Meet Dr. Anthony Laboe

I love my profession. Not only do I enjoy seeing the changes that having a healthy bite and wonderful smile have on my patients, but I love the daily interactions with my patients and their families. I see my role as not just providing orthodontic care, but helping patients learn about their oral health and ensuring that they view seeing a dentist or other oral healthcare provider as a positive and fun experience.

Not many people have the opportunity to work side-by-side with their father, and I have loved every minute of it. It provides us with the unique opportunity to have a second opinion without having to seek someone outside the practice. My father’s passion about orthodontics, and seeing how he treated his patients and how they reacted to his care, inspired me to go into the same field. Being able to bring about meaningful, healthy changes in people’s lives, while developing lasting friendships with them, is what makes each day fulfilling. I believe it is essential that any professional, but especially those in the medical fields, stays up-to-date on developments in his or her specialty. As an orthodontist, I know that there are constant changes in technologies, treatments, and treatment processes. It is only by pursuing continuing education offerings that I am able to offer my patients the most advanced, proven care available.

In addition to participating in continuing education courses, for several years I was an associate professor in the orthodontic program at the University of Detroit Mercy School of Dentistry.

PERSONAL LIFE AND COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT

Except for my schooling, I’ve lived my entire life here in Monroe, MI, and still love being here. When I’m not working and caring for my patients, chances are that you’ll find me with my wife Heather, and children Michael, Paul, and Daniel. We’re a close-knit family. However, I do make time for sports, including training. I’ve completed several half marathons, marathons, and triathlons, and last summer I completed my first half Ironman competition.

Our community is very important to me and I believe in giving back, especially through support for the Special Olympics and our local schools.
